Olympics and writing contest update
I’ll try to keep this one short. There are Olympic games to be watching!
Hope everyone from the various countries who follow this blog have enjoyed the events so far. I’ve been following the swimming, diving, and gymnastics. Rather upset for Jordan Wieber at the moment. She got robbed over that idiotic rule where only two gymnasts from each country can compete in the All Arounds. It really should be the best twenty-four instead. On the other hand, I’m proud of the US team as a whole for doing so well yesterday. Aly Raisman has really turned out to be a rock during the competition, though her parents are funny to watch. Hopefully the gymnasts can all keep up the good work for the finals tomorrow.
Swimming has been great to watch as well. Several countries have sent some really good teams. I highly recommend watching the video below the US swim team made to go with the song “Call Me Maybe”. It’s upbeat and has both the men and women dancing and lip synching to the song (yes, they are often in their bathing suits). Lots of talk about it on Twitter because of their impressive…dance skills (even under water).
As a reminder, the writing contest closes tonight. So far there has been only one qualified entry. I realize this month’s theme may not be something everyone is comfortable writing, but if you’ve got it in you, you might give it a shot. There are two prizes to award and at this point one won’t be given if more don’t participate. I’ve got the countdown clock going at the top right of the blog so you can see how much time you have left to enter. Some of you could manage it, so don’t be bashful.
Wishing everyone a happy Monday!
